Großenhain

The large district town of Grossenhain is located north of the state capital Dresden. Grossenhain with its approximately 20.000 inhabitants is one of the oldest cities in the Free State of Saxony.

The historic city center still bears witness to the city's 800-year history. In the lovingly restored old town you will find a variety of specialty shops as well as numerous pubs and restaurants. Grossenhain has a lively and intact city center, in which e.g. the regular weekly market is extremely popular.

Concerts, oratorios and guest performances by the Landesbühnen Sachsen and the Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen, exhibitions, readings, theater and cabaret are regular events of the city, Kulturzentrum GmbH, church and other organizers. Over the course of the year, events of national importance take place in Grossenhain and its districts. The experience festival of the senses, the farmers market in Grossenhain or the Grossenhain Christmas market are just a few examples.

At the latest since the 2002 State Horticultural Show was held, Grossenhain has described itself as a "friendly city in the countryside". The spacious parks and green areas of the core city, the Walda landscape park and the Zabeltitz baroque garden invite you to take idyllic walks. In the summer months, Saxony's largest nature adventure bath can be used for a wet cooling.

Conveniently located, the city of Dresden can be reached in just over 40 minutes by train or in three quarters of an hour by car.

It is not just the diverse cultural, leisure and sports offers that shape life in Grossenhain. In order for all generations to feel at home in the city, the personal living environment is particularly important. It starts with good childcare and does not end in attractive residential areas.

For young families in particular, Grossenhain offers true to the motto “family-friendly City “almost all the advantages of a small town that is only a few kilometers away from the state capital Dresden. There are 14 day care centers in the city of Großenhain, which are managed and operated by a total of ten independent organizations. With a total of four primary schools with after-school care, two secondary schools and a general high school, parents and pupils in Grossenhain can choose between several institutions for school education. A particularly successful example of a modern school location with the best educational and childcare facilities is the "Children's Boulevard Am Schacht".

Grossenhain has a wide range of new and refurbished apartments at affordable rental prices and home locations with free capacity in the city area. The modern infrastructure of all municipal utilities and good social and medical care make Grossenhain a liveable city.
